In a world that is increasingly dominated by digital technologies, the integration of gamification strategies into the tourism sector is becoming more and more important. As managing director and trainer of Tourismus-Training, I recently held an interactive workshop in Ulm that dealt with precisely this topic.
Gamification uses game-like elements in a non-game context to encourage engagement and participation. In tourism, this can help enhance the guest experience by providing fun and engaging ways to explore attractions.
In our workshop, we defined specific goals and measurable key figures that make it possible to evaluate the success of gamification strategies. We have developed personas to understand the target group precisely and create customized experiences. Best practice examples, such as the use of augmented reality apps by Linz Tourismus and geocaching-based projects, were also presented.
